Kottayam Forane Conclave
The Forane Conclave of the Diocese of Vijayapuram began with the hoisting of the Papal flag by the Diocesan Ministry Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Varghese Kottakkat. The inaugural meeting began with a welcome address by Very Rev. Fr. Wilson Kapattil, followed by greetings and felicitations. The meeting was presided over by the Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Vijayapuram, Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Madathiparambil. Following the inaugural session, each parish presented a brief history of their parish using PowerPoint presentations. Around 180 participants attended the event. Participants included the parish priests, parish council secretaries, finance committee secretaries, convent superiors, six ministry conveners, two nominees from each parish priest, and the diocesan directors of the six ministries — Pastoral Ministry, Social Ministry, Family Ministry Laity, Education, and Youth Ministry. By around 11:30 a.m., the initial session and parish reports concluded.
Participants then divided into six groups and moved to prearranged venues for the Input Session. After lunch, all gathered in the church for Eucharistic Adoration.
Later, each ministry was divided into two, forming 12 groups, which included the presence of 12 moderators, priests, and sisters. The six ministries discussed and shared insights inspired by the Holy Spirit regarding their plans and vision for the next three years. After every four members shared their reflections, the group observed a minute of silent prayer before continuing, creating a prayerful and reflective atmosphere throughout the discussions.
After the group discussions, each ministry consolidated their ideas into a report, which was presented on stage during the final plenary session. Participants were also given the opportunity to add further comments or suggestions regarding the ministries. Everyone shared their thoughts in a spirit of prayer and responsibility. By around 4:00 p.m., the Kottayam Forane Conclave concluded with a vote of thanks and prayer.
